How To: Install the SharkBite EvoPEX Plumbing System
SharkBite EvoPEX is a permanent, PEX-only push-to-connect plumbing system that can be installed up to 30% faster than traditional PEX installation methods. Fittings feature a green visual indicator when tubing has been inserted to the proper depth, reducing the risk of installation errors. SharkBite offers a range of EvoPEX fittings including couplings, elbows, caps, adapters and tees for faster repipe, new construction and remodel applications.

Installation doesn’t require any special tools, crimping, soldering or glue. All you need is a pair of sharp PEX cutters, EvoPEX couplings and PEX pipe.
How to Install an EvoPEX Fitting
- Cut the PEX pipe to your desired length. When cutting pipe, be sure the ends are cut as squarely as possible. Keep the pipe end clean and free of debris.
- Insert the pipe into the EvoPEX fitting. To reduce friction, insert the pipe straight into the fitting with a slight twisting action. Avoid inserting at an angle.
- Check the connection. Ensure the pipe is engaged into the fitting by checking for the green indicator on the fitting. This indicates a proper and permanent connection.
Testing the System
Once you’ve made your connections and the green indicator is confirmed at all joints, the system can be tested immediately. We recommend pressure testing with water at 80 psi. If local code requires a higher-pressure test, be sure not to exceed the pipe rating:
- 160 psi at 73.4°F
- 100 psi at 180°F
- 80 psi at 200°F
When air testing the system, we recommend using pressures between 40 and 125 psi. Once the system has been tested and has passed inspections, you’re ready to move onto your next job.
