Drop Ear Elbows are used to transition from Copper, PEX, CPVC or PE-RT to threaded pipe, such as shower arms or tub spouts. They are similar to female elbows, but have mounting ears with holes for securing to a surface, such as a stud or wall, and they provide additional stability. SharkBite drop ear elbows are compatible with copper, CPVC and PEX pipe and do not require any soldering, clamps, unions or glue. Their stainless steel teeth bite down and grip the pipe for a strong, dependable connection, and their specially formulated O-ring compresses to create a perfect watertight seal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used for tub spigot On a recent bathroom remodel I needed to plumb a slip-on tub spigot as I did not want to play the length guessing game with a nipple and screw-on spigot. I used this drop elbow to fix a copper pipe to later attach the spigot too. I left the copper spigot pipe extra long and cut it to the proper size after the tile was installed. The typical SharkBite drop elbows in the stores have a female end. I am glad this part was available and it made my job much easier. Worked out great.

I used this fitting recently as part of a new plumbing assembly in my laundry room. Specifically, I used these drop ear elbows to secure new washing machine valves to then plugged in my PEX assembly. I later secured the elbows to the wall with cement screws, the screw holes had enough room for 1/4" screws. The picture provided was before I secured them. I had no leaks. Instructions say the tubing should go in an inch, I found they go in about .8" or so. Although a bit pricey, these fittings and PEX made easy work. It took me an hour and a half to complete the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from worked great in a snap old hose bib - went to change, instead the entire elbow broke at the prior drop ear elbow. What a disaster, no water to the house - a quick run to home depot for some push fit fittings and all is well. Secure the drop ear elbow to some wood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the best product ever If anyone had plumbing to do they need to use these products. Very easy to use and a wonderful product. Make sure you mark the pipe with a black mark to assure that the pipe is installed to the correct depth

I have a 1/2" drop ear elbow with FNPT threaded connector on the out side. The threads aren't fitting with the hardware that shipped with my faucet. The threads appear to be the same size by eyeballing it, but I can't even get half a turn. Please help

I have the exact same problem. Remodeled bathroom, installed new tile and then find out the shower arm will not screw into the sharkbite 1/2" drop ear. Love sharkbite, but this is unacceptable. So we have a decision to make, either tear out the new tile and replace the sharkbite with something that works or put an ugly adapter in between the sharkbite and shower arm.

Is the female section of my drop ear elbow suppose to have a neoprene washer before connecting the threads?

Asked by: Len C
Good morning, When using our threaded adapters, you should use plumbers tape or pipe dope to complete a seal between two metal fittings.

Purchased your 1/2" x 1/2" FNPT Drop Ear Elbow U334LFA. The drop ear is made out of brass. There are three holes for securing. Do you recommend a specific screw for the job- i.e. :brass screws, stainless, flathead, slotted, Phillips, use washers or not?

Asked by: Douglas
Hey Douglas, There is no particular screw required for installation. No washers are needed.

I have a non sharkbite drop elbow where the non-threaded end is soldered copper 1/2". I need a sharkbite coupling to fit over it with a threaded male end on the other side.  The ones I found at my local Canadian Tire didn't fit.  Is there such a product?

Asked by: Faisal
Greetings Faisal, When using our product with pipe that has solder on it, you must clean the pipe as well as possible. There should be no ridges or lumps on the outside of the pipe. If there are, this could cause the fitting to not seal completely. You could look at at our 1/2 male adapter. I need a "side mount" drop ear elbow. (rather than a rear mount) I'm having difficulty finding one. Are these made?

Asked by: dustin
Greetings Dustin, We do not make a product like this. I'm not familiar with anyone who would have something like that.

Should the FPT connection be used with galvanized pipe, or other pipe material?

Asked by: Greg125
Greeting Greg, Brass should not be connected to galvanized pipe. These types of metals will react with each other and cause corrosion. You should check with the material you are attaching to our fittings and make sure they don't react with Brass. After confirming the materials are okay to connect, you should check the thread type. All our threads are National Pipe Thread.

I just used my first sharkbite fitting, and was worried that the connection still rotated after installation.  Is that normal and acceptable?  Copper 1/2" pipe.

Asked by: toxic
Hello, Yes that is normal SharkBite fittings can be rotated after assembly and will not affect the integrity of the joint, as long as you inserted to the proper depth which is 0.95 in. for a 1/2" Fitting. Thank you!
