Made in the USA: Why It Matters

For many Americans, products that are made in the USA are a source of loyalty and pride. Additionally, supporting American products can help to contribute to the stability of our economy. From job creation to ensuring the quality goods and more, “Made in America,” isn’t just a patriotic phrase - it’s a way of life. Here’s a closer look at some of the benefits of American-made products and how RWC supports the tradition of onshore manufacturing.

What “Made in the USA” Means & Why it’s Important

According to the Federal Trade Commission: “Made in USA means that ‘all or virtually all’ the product has been made in America. That is, all significant parts, processing, and labor that go into the product must be of U.S. origin. Products should not contain any – or should contain only negligible – foreign content.”

Manufacturing in the USA helps to guarantee jobs, as money invested in American-made products often stays in local communities. The more money that is spent on American goods, the more will be recirculated in the manufacturing of these products. In turn, more jobs are created and more money can be circulated within, creating a cycle that supports the improvement of the economy.

Ensuring product quality and safe working conditions are also important aspects of onshore manufacturing. For example, is often easier to observe and address manufacturing facility conditions, practices and worker behavior onshore vs. overseas. Government acts such as OSHA help to supervise and ensure safe working conditions, minimize accidents and grant rights for employees at these facilities.

RWC Products Made in the USA

For more than 100 years RWC brand, Cash Acme, has manufactured control valves in the USA, and in 2004, SharkBite was introduced to the USA. Among many other RWC products, SharkBite PEX tubing, EvoPEX™systems and other core fittings are manufactured in RWC’s Cullman, AL facility, which features high technology robotic equipment to manufacture these innovative products. The State of Alabama and Cullman Economic Development Agency (CEDA) support the growth of operations at the Cullman facility as well as job opportunities created by expansion of manufacturing and distribution facilities. RWC continues to add to its manufacturing in the US, which has increased its Cullman, Alabama facility by nearly 40% over the past 5 years. To date, RWC’s Cullman facilities have been successful in the training and development of local employees, and responsible for a number of notable product innovation. In June, SharkBite PEX tubing with 6-month UV rating began shipping from the Cullman facility and is marked PEX 5306. A 5306 rating means that SharkBite PEX meets the highest chlorine resistance, making it ideal for continuous hot water recirculation jobs with extended schedules.
