The SharkBite PEX Barb Threaded Male Adapter is made of a lead-free DZR brass, and is an easy-to-install, low-cost solution to connect to PEX tubing. These fittings allow you to connect with either a stainless steel clamp system, or a copper crimp ring system (each sold separately) and is MNPT threaded on the other side. The SharkBite PEX Barb fittings are compatible for potable water distribution and hydronic heating applications.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PEX FITTINGS Make Plumbing Easy PEX Plumbing Fittings including the 1/2 inch male treaded fittings make plumbing so easy for the skilled DIYer. The 1/2 treaded fitting (male or female treads) is very useful for tub shower installs. The treaded fitting makes a nice tight connection in transitioning to PEX piping for the hot and cold connection. Note my experience says don't use these for the outflow connections as PEX fittings are a smaller diameter and can cause the tub shower value to not function properly...water drips/trickles out the shower head when filling the tub. Never the less, I'm a PEX fan and this issue is easily solved. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a Pex barb not a garden hose or poly barb. Exactly what I needed to attach a sillcock with 1/2" female iron pipe thread to a 3/4" PEX pipe. PEX pipe (like CPVC) is measured in "copper pipe size". So 3/4" PEX has external diameter of about 0.875" which is the same as 3/4" copper pipes and internal diameter about 10% less than similarly sized copper pipes, which has thinner walls. So 3/4" PEX has internal diameter of 0.677" (compared Io 0.745 for Type K copper) and both have an external diameter of 0.875. Iron Pipe Size refers to the internal and external diameters of the heavy old iron pipes, so a 1/2" iron pipe has external diameter 0.840, very close to 3/4" copper or PEX. This adapter is as advertised - it connects a 3/4" PEX pipe to a 1/2" IPS thread. Also be aware that garden hoses use 3/4" hose pipe threads, which look similar to but do not fit the 1/2" iron pipe thread.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked Great! Good Threads, Good Barb, Leak Free I used these fittings to connect a complex (to me!) shower w/jets. I crimped with the sharkbite 1/2 & 3/4 combo tool (also purchased at HD). BTW, the tool worked great but was tough to use in tight spaces when you had to use the 3/4" crimp. Dave

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No leak final fix. These fittings should be the last repair you might ever make. I have used this fitting to replace my very old galvanized steel piping in my house. I love how forgiving PEX piping and fittings is. The tools, fittings, and materials are light weight and easier to get into tight places requiring less connections. I bought my own PEX tools through Home Depot for around the cost of a couple nice pipe wrenches. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3/4 in pex adapter to 1 in male thread Product worked great but had leak caused by my small whirlpool house filter. This filter known to have leak problems. Had to get pvc connections because of stainless inserts on the filter. Could not get leak to stop no matter how much teflon tape was used. Read on line that filter housing is now discontinued.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from wrong sizing setup 3/4" barb it is not, more like 1/2" which will not work for 3/4 " hose. Just wasted time trying to get parts which are not to standard plumbing specs. Home depot needs to fix that so getting the parts you need is easy not crazy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Repaired my Refuling Cylinder I bought this item to repair a Refuling tank that I purchased from a company that is now out of business. Wit no place to go for parts I trimmed off the bad piece of hose and used this fitting and a hose clamp and the tank is as good as new.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from leaks I used two of these in my project. Both were installed using Oatey Great White pipe dope (which I've never had a problem with). Both leaked. Disassembled and reinstalled with triple wrap of teflon tape which, so far, stopped the leaks.

Can these fittings be used on 3/4" PE pipe using a Sharkbite crimp ring to secure it?

Asked by: JohnW
Hello, Our barb fittings are not suitable for use with polybutylene tubing. The only barb fitting we offer that is suitable for use with polybutylene tubing is our polybutylene adapter (link below). This fitting is designed to transition from polybutylene tubing to PEX tubing. Thank you

Will the UC116LF connect to a standard washing machine hose?

Asked by: katamara
If the piping is PEX pipe and certified to ASTM F1807 or ASTM F2098, then it will be fine. Anything else would not be certified for that fitting.

can I use the on galvanize T pipe do I need to look out for corrosion

Asked by: joey
Joey, Yes you can use this on Galvanized Pipe to transition to PEX Pipe. All SharkBite Push-to-Connect and Barb Fittings use high-quality DZR (De-zincification) Brass which is corrosion resistant. If you want a corrosion proof solution, then our Poly Alloy fittings will be another solution for your application. Thanks for your question!
