Information

The SharkBite Slip Ball Valve allows you to make a quick repair and add a shutoff valve to rigid Copper or CPVC pipe. Simply insert the Slip Ball Valve onto the pipe after you’ve cut out your section and use the Disconnect Clip to slide the fitting back to the other end of pipe which completes the connection. This valve is easily rotated after assembly to allow easy access to the shutoff even in tight spaces.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DIYers Dream - Professional Nightmare As a DIYer this is a great technology that everyone should be made aware of. I had a leaky valve which was a old twist knob. All i needed to do was shut the water off, cut the pipes to the current length. Clean the copper and snap on the new value. Nothing else needed. NO soldering needed. So easy any beginner can use this. I am sure plumbers are not happy about Shark Bite cause it takes inflated labor costs away from them. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy valve I started using Sharkbite products after being introduced by a friend. I have taken on many home improvement projects over the years and plumbing can be one of the most difficult. Soldering joints can be tedious and time consuming. But with these Sharkbite products it eliminates this step. Simply cut, attaché a shark bite connector and then connect pie again. The connects are firm and I have had no leaks. I used this valve to place and additional shut off valve where one did not previously exists. It made the job much easier. It is well build and sturdy and the lever ball vale action is smooth. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast + Simple + Effective + AWESOME!!!!! Every time I use a SharkBite product, I walk away with a smile on my face. This valve was no exception. SharkBite products are perfect for new work and perfect for making a repair. Last year during the frigid cold winter, these valves were out of stock in just about every store I visited. They are perfect to repair a frozen pipe. On of the best things about this valve, you can cut out the split portion of the pipe and still make the repair. The valve will fill in up to 2" of missing pipe. The only thing that would make this valve any better is a little cheaper price [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

If you'd told me a couple of weeks ago that the main water shutoff to my house was toast and needed to be replaced, I'd have been bummed. If you'd told me I was going to replace it myself, I'd have said you were out of your mind. But today, in well under an hour, I cut out the old gate valve on the lateral coming into my house, and installed a new Sharkbite 3/4" slip ball valve, with no problems whatsoever. Now, I'm pretty handy around the house, but beyond pulling/setting a toilet, or swapping out a faucet set, plumbing is NOT my thing. With these new push-to-connect fittings from SharkBite though, the game has changed. Honestly, the whole process couldn't have been more painless. I know I just saved myself a few hundred dollars, and couldn't be more pleased. A few pieces of advice: 1) Get and use the SharkBite deburring/depth tool. If your access to use it is limited (my pipe was less than an inch from a block wall), you can cut it up with a hacksaw. 2) When you prep the ends of your pipes with the tool, go ahead and mark the depth on the pipe with a marker, like they tell you to do in the instructional videos. It takes all the guess work out of knowing whether you have the fitting seated all the way onto the pipe. Seriously, do this. 3) Getting the fittings to release using the disconnect clip can be a little tricky. What worked for me was to press the disconnect clip hard against the fitting, while simultaneously rotating it about a half or quarter turn around the pipe to get the fitting to fully release.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Idea- Useful for Emergency Fixes I have used Shark Bite products in the past and have been impressed with their easy installation. The 1/2" valve I would highly recommend for anyone who does maintenance work especially. The versatility of this product is amazing. It can be used on CPVC or rigid copper. You do not use glue or solder, so after you install it, the valve can be adjusted so the handle can be set in the position you want easily.I have not had any leaks using these either. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply the best solution for the home plumber! Easy to install. Quality Construction I've been using Sharkbite products for nearly a decade now and simply love them. They never fail and they install so easily. Each component is built from high quality brass and steel, no plastic fittings here. I had to install a new water supply on the outside of the house and the only shut off was the main shut off valve by the water meter. This Sharkbite fitting allowed me to quickly add a shut off valve close to the area I was working in and let me turn the water back on to the rest of the house while I worked. Installation of this slip style ball valve could not be easier. You will cut 2 inches of pipe from the line you want to install the valve on. Line up the new valve and slide the long slip end onto the pipe first. Then you line up the remaining open end and shove the pipe into the fitting. Adjust the valve using the included orange release clip until the pipe is bottomed out in the non-slip end. It's all done in 30 seconds. The valve itself operates easily and the handle is large and strong. You get a solid stop whether opening or closing the line. Sharkbite saves you a fortune in plumber costs and gives you confidence that you won't have leaks and satisfaction that you did it yourself. I recommend Sharkbite connections to everyone I know. Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like these fittings I like the SharkBite plumbing fittings because you don’t have to solder the pipes together. I have done soldering in the past but it is hard to keep your expertise up if you don’t do it that often. Also I don’t have the equipment anymore. Especially in hard to access places where there flammable wood or insulation close by it is easier to use these. I have used them before and they are still doing fine years later. Also they are easier to take off and reuse if you want to reconfigure your piping later. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Questions

I’m installing a shark bite slip ball valve and it says remove a 2 inch section of pipe and it seems like I need to cut another 1/4 of a inch should I cut more off it’s just fitting together

Asked by: Derik R
Hello, Please see the maximum amount of pipe you can remove for particular sizes of SharkBite slip ball valves below. Removing more than this amount of pipe from the line could result in a failure. 1/2" slip ball valve - remove a 2" section of pipe 3/4" slip ball valve - remove a 2.25" section of pipe 1" slip ball valve - remove a 2.5" section of pipe http://www.sharkbite.com/sharkbite/wp-content/uploads/SB_SlipBallValve_SpecSheet_061515.pdf Thank you

I just installed these valves with the slip side going onto copper and the other side onto pex. It seems to be holding good and no leaks, but what are future implications if I leave it hooked up this way?

Asked by: jamesd
Hello, Our slip fittings/valves are not suitable for use with PEX tubing. The lack of a tube stiffener inside the PEX tubing could lead to a failure. We recommend switching to one of our regular push-to-connect ball valves that do not have the slip feature. Thank you

I have 1" existing copper line. Line is dry, no water. How do I to determine whether to use slip sharkbite ball valve or "regular" sharkbite ball valve?

Asked by: Tony J
Hello, SharkBite push-to-connect products with the slip feature are designed for applications where you are unable to spread the pipes apart enough to fit a regular fitting or valve once cut. If you are able to spread the pipes apart once cut a "regular" valve will be the one to use. Thank you

Want to replace an existing gate valve with a 1/2 in slip ball valve, the current piping has very little play available. How many inches of clearance is required to install the ball valve. Tks

Asked by: JinC
Good morning, The slip ball valve can bridge a gap up to 2 inches. This is also the gap required to slide on and clear the other section of pipe.

I have 2 copper water lines 3/4” that I want to discontinue and I would like to know if you have anything I can use without sweating the fitting to the copper pipe

Asked by: Dale P
Hello, We recommend using part # U518LF (end cap) to discontinue use of a pipe. These are push-to-connect fittings and there is no need to sweat. http://www.sharkbite.com/product/end-caps/ Thank you

What's the difference between a ball valve and a slip ball valve?  How much pipe do I remove to install on a copper pipe where there is currently no valve?

Asked by: Jilll
Hello, Our regular ball valves are designed for applications where once the pipe is cut they can be spread apart enough to insert the valve. If your pipes will not spread apart enough to fit the regular ball valve you can use a slip ball valve. Please see the slip ball valve installation instructions in the link below. http://www.sharkbite.com/sharkbite/wp-content/uploads/SB_SlipBallValve_SpecSheet_061515.pdf Thank you
