Information

The SharkBite Slip Ball Valve allows you to make a quick repair and add a shutoff valve to rigid Copper or CPVC pipe. Simply insert the Slip Ball Valve onto the pipe after you’ve cut out your section and use the Disconnect Clip to slide the fitting back to the other end of pipe which completes the connection. This valve is easily rotated after assembly to allow easy access to the shutoff even in tight spaces.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy valve I started using Sharkbite products after being introduced by a friend. I have taken on many home improvement projects over the years and plumbing can be one of the most difficult. Soldering joints can be tedious and time consuming. But with these Sharkbite products it eliminates this step. Simply cut, attaché a shark bite connector and then connect pie again. The connects are firm and I have had no leaks. I used this valve to place and additional shut off valve where one did not previously exists. It made the job much easier. It is well build and sturdy and the lever ball vale action is smooth. Rated 5 out of 5 by from DIYers Dream - Professional Nightmare As a DIYer this is a great technology that everyone should be made aware of. I had a leaky valve which was a old twist knob. All i needed to do was shut the water off, cut the pipes to the current length. Clean the copper and snap on the new value. Nothing else needed. NO soldering needed. So easy any beginner can use this. I am sure plumbers are not happy about Shark Bite cause it takes inflated labor costs away from them. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast + Simple + Effective + AWESOME!!!!! Every time I use a SharkBite product, I walk away with a smile on my face. This valve was no exception. SharkBite products are perfect for new work and perfect for making a repair. Last year during the frigid cold winter, these valves were out of stock in just about every store I visited. They are perfect to repair a frozen pipe. On of the best things about this valve, you can cut out the split portion of the pipe and still make the repair. The valve will fill in up to 2" of missing pipe. The only thing that would make this valve any better is a little cheaper price [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Idea- Useful for Emergency Fixes I have used Shark Bite products in the past and have been impressed with their easy installation. The 1/2" valve I would highly recommend for anyone who does maintenance work especially. The versatility of this product is amazing. It can be used on CPVC or rigid copper. You do not use glue or solder, so after you install it, the valve can be adjusted so the handle can be set in the position you want easily.I have not had any leaks using these either. Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like these fittings I like the SharkBite plumbing fittings because you don’t have to solder the pipes together. I have done soldering in the past but it is hard to keep your expertise up if you don’t do it that often. Also I don’t have the equipment anymore. Especially in hard to access places where there flammable wood or insulation close by it is easier to use these. I have used them before and they are still doing fine years later. Also they are easier to take off and reuse if you want to reconfigure your piping later. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's like magic! I got this valve to replace an original shut-off valve on my water heater that no longer closes completely. The biggest challenge was cleaning the paint splatter off the copper pipe so it would be clean for the SharkBite. Installation of the new valve was simple - cut out 2.25" including the old valve, push on the long end, line up the other end, and use the included release tool the slide the valve back to catch both ends of the pipe. I used the SharkBite "Safe Seal Depth and Pipe Deburring Tool" from Home Depot to prepare the pipe ends and mark the insertion depth. I had my wife watch for leaks while I turned the water back on, and there were none. The quality of the valve is excellent and the instruction on the package are clear the well-written. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easiest way to replace your main valve! This fitting is all you need to replace your main service valve as it has an integrated slip joint. That allows you to cut a 2” section of pipe out and install the fitting. Remove 2” of pipe, using a pipe cutter, debur the ends of the pipe (best to use the Sharkbite deburring tool), slip the slip end on and then slide it back onto the pipe on the other side of the gap. Done. The fitting comes with a ¾” release clip that can be used to remove the fitting. This is needed to slide it back onto the second pipe end. The sharkbite installation could not be easier and I initially was surprised to read that it could be installed so easily. No soldering, no PTFE tape, no tightening of bolts, no thread making. Just push on and you are done. In addition it can be used on Plex and copper and PVC and the fittings can be taken off and reused! Brilliant design. For new installation, what is the minimum and maximum copper pipe depths, do I push the pipe all the way in on slip side and 1 inch on other?

Asked by: Jecmec
Good morning, When using our slip feature products, you will can cut up to the allotted 2-1/2 inches. If you cut under that, you'd have to eye ball the gap you'd need to make sure you can slip the ball valve all the way on and slide it back the other way. If you remove more than 2-1/2 inches, you will need to use additional fittings to make sure insertion depths are met on the slip product. For more detailed information, please call customer service at 1-877-700-4242 between 8 am - 6 pm est Monday through Friday.

The inner sleeve on the valve shouldnt it be removed...

Asked by: Frederick
Good afternoon, None of our Slip feature products will have a inner sleeve. Any of our Standard fittings will have sleeves and we recommend leaving them in no matter which pipe you install it on. For warranty purposes, you just leave the liner in for PEX tubing.

The 1/2" slip ball valve coupling does have any markings as to which end is the slip end. Does it matter which end goes in first

Asked by: Chris123
Good morning, The longer side is the slip side. To use the sliding feature to bridge a gap in pipe with no play, Yes it does matter which side goes on first. You can view this video of our slip feature products to get a better understanding: http://www.sharkbite.com/how-to/sharkbite-slip-coupling-copper-or-cpvc-repair/

Ok to use on a boiler hot water line? 1/2" COPPER 1/2" ball valve. #24735LF

Asked by: JimD
Yes, as long as the temperature of the water running through it does not exceed 200 degrees Fahrenheit, then you should be fine. SharkBite fittings are certified up to that temperature.

I want to install a 3/4 inch ball valve in line on a copper pipe. I do have a little movement on the in line pipe. What is the min. size section do I need to take out of copper pipe. Or how much does 3/4 inch ball valve need to insert into each end?

Asked by: Dave888
Good afternoon, You can cut out up to 2 inches for the slip feature products. For 3/4 inch, you will need approximately 1-1/8 inch for insertion.
