Information

The SharkBite PEX Barb Reducing Coupling is made of a lead-free DZR brass, and is an easy to install, low-cost solution to connect to PEX tubing. These fittings allow for you to reduce pipe size with one fitting. The SharkBite PEX Barb fittings are compatible for potable water distribution and hydronic heating applications. These fittings can be used in both a stainless steel clamp system, or a copper crimp ring system (each sold separately).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PEX Needed a 5/8 x 3/4 coupling for an automotive heater hose splice. The sizing must be a plumbing spec only because its more like 1/2 x 5/8 in standard inch measurements. Couldn't use it but quality and shipping was good.

Questions

How do I use the pec crimp tool?

Asked by: Steve m
Good morning, You will slide the ring over the pipe, insert the barb fitting, slide the ring over the PEX where the fitting is inserted, and then crimp the tool around the band. You can find complete PEX installation instructions (including tool usage) by following this link: http://www.sharkbite.com/sharkbite/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/SB_PEX_Install_Instructions_2017_FINAL_WEB.pdf

Product U8700100, 3/4" oxygen barrier PEX, is 11/16" ID and 13/16" OD.  My 3/4" barb fittings are exactly 3/4".  Am I supposed to use a heat gun to soften the PEX or is there a true 3/4" ID product?

Asked by: JohnB
Greetings JohnB, You should not need to use a heat gun or do any additional work outside sliding the barb fitting into the tube. We have a few follow up questions needed to figure out what may be causing this issue. Please give us a call at 1-877-700-4242 between 8am - 6 pm est Monday - Friday or by e-mail at techsupport@cashacme.com.
