Information

SharkBite PEX tubing is a cross-linked polyethylene pipe for a range of residential and commercial plumbing applications. This pipe is approved for all potable water systems and is also available in white and blue colors. SharkBite PEX is approved for crimp, clamp or push-to-connect plumbing systems. The pipe comes with a repeating SharkBite imprinted pattern which serves as a visual aid to determine if the tube has been inserted correctly into SharkBite Push-to-Connect fittings. This feature only works if the tubing is cut between the SharkBite imprint pattern.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Easy To Use I used SharkBite PEX to replace copper line running to my Water Heater. The red and blue colors make it easy to distinguish Hot and Cold lines after install is complete. Using a SharkBite coupling I easily transitioned from Copper to PEX, the PEX is more flexible than copper and easy to work with, it is also a great value at much lower price point. PEX is easy to cut as well and can be done with a PEX Cutter sold at Home Depot. Great product very easy to work with and use for an average DIYer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install plumbing This system of plumbing can help to make even the "worst" of handymen into a "pro" plumber. Cuts easily. Can make minor bends. Installs easily as part of the entire Shark system.

This is a great length of PEX for small jobs and I recently used it to replace a plumbing assembly in my laundry room. 5 ft was all I needed. I like PEX because it can bend easily and saves time over using multiple copper fittings. I noticed the factory cuts are not perfectly flat but I also realized that shark bite fittings dont require an exceptionally flat end to the tubing, it can be a little slanted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every home handyman should have this in his garage All the plumbing I've ever done has been with copper piping and sweated or compression fittings. After moving to upstate New York the vast majority of the plumbing I've encountered is PEX tubing. I love it. It's so much more forgiving and easier to work with than ridged pipe. This five foot piece is great to have on hand for quick repairs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As advertised Great pipe, easy to use, but DO get the pipe cutting tool for square cuts. I did not and it took a bit to get ends square. I could have saved some time with the correct tool.

Questions

Does this pex pipe have the ASTM-F 2023 certification for use with hot chlorinated water? I'm not seeing that in the product specs here, however the specs on home depot website "claim" this product has this.

Is the straight pipe different from the coils? Or is it just a different length sold for convenience? If it is different, can the straight pipe also be bent? What are the limitations to the bends?

Asked by: DavidC
Greetings DavidC, There aren't any differences between straight or coiled PEX Tubing. Limitations on the bend radius can be found on page 11 of this link: http://www.sharkbite.com/sharkbite/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/SHARKBITE-PEX-INSTALLATION-INSTRUCTIONS.pdf

When using pec pipe do you have to use red on hot water or can you use blue

Asked by: Loco
Greetings Loco, You can use any color PEX that we make. All our PEX tubes meet the same standards. The only difference between Red , Blue or White is the color dye used in them.
