SharkBite Reclaimed Water PEX is cross-linked polyethylene tubing for gray water, rainwater harvesting and reclaimed water systems only. Manufactured with a purple color background, the tubing meets color code requirements of national and state code bodies to clearly identify reclaimed water lines. SharkBite Reclaimed Water PEX is available in 1/2” to 1” sizes. A repeating SharkBite imprint pattern provides a visual aid to determine if the tube has been inserted all the way into any SharkBite Push-to-Connect Fitting. This feature only works if the tubing is cut between the SharkBite imprint pattern. SharkBite Reclaimed Water PEX can be connected with SharkBite push-fit fittings or barbed fittings — providing a variety of connection options for a trouble free installation.

ASTM F877-2011a and CSA B137.5-2009

What is the difference between this reclaimed water piping and normal 1" PEX tubing? Is it just the color difference? Can this purple PEX be used for pressure applications?

Asked by: llance
The main difference is that the red, white and blue PEX is for potable water and the purple is not. If you are using this for a drinking water application, we would advise against using the purple PEX.

Re: reclaimed water PEX tubing. Can this piping be installed in direct sunlight? Or is it not UV RESISTANT and only suitable for buried uses?

Asked by: Allen
Greetings Anonymous, All our PEX tubing need to avoid long exposure to UV light. UV light will dry out the pipe and cause it to crack and break.
