Very easy to read and understand instructions on the back of the package. Simply measure and press the coupling in place. You can even turn the coupling after it is pressed on to connect the threaded side. It is that easy. Another great feature is the ability to easily disconnect them using a small plastic tool that looks like a "c". I recommend buying one of the tools just in case you need one. They are sold seperately. I have rental property and have been using them for more than 3 years without a single problem. SharkBite couplings are extremely easy to use! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally Works With PVC Pipe When I was re-plumbing my water pump because my new construction plumber was only familiar with city water systems and I became the plumber/ owner/ builder I used many Shark Bite fittings to attach to PEX and copper. Silver Solider and a Map gas torch may be fun to some, but I avoid them when I can. PVC Shark Bites were not available even a couple years ago. PVC and PEX is affordable, copper pipe and fittings are not anymore. Back then it was a challenge to transition between copper, PEX and PVC pipe as there was only the tan color ring Shark Bites. Now plumbing repairs or construction has become a "bite" easier with these white ringed fittings. Now lead-free available and more common. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This is another fine SharkBite product that I have found helpful for installation in tight places. Please note that this fitting is used for Schedule 40, 80, and 120 PVC and Schedule 40, and 80 CPVC pipe ONLY for the slip on connection. The threaded end is 1/2 in male National Pipe Tapered thread, the standard thread used in general plumbing. The slip on end works well, with no leaks. It is difficult to start onto the PVC unless the end of the pipe is tapered with the SharkBite reamer tool. A lap or two of thread tape on the threaded end and tighten for a leak free connection. These fittings are great time savers and high quality. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This particular one has the 1/2 inch push to connect end, and the 1/2 standard pipe thread for use when connecting to brass female fittings. Obviously you should use pipe dope and/or Teflon pipe tape to seal the threaded side, but once you have done that, simply push your copper/pvc or pex pipe into this adapter and you are then done. The days of sweat soldering or using stinky pvc cement or worse yet, a compression fitting, are done when you use these fittings. I have never had this type fitting leak or fail yet in over 10 years of use, and do not expect this one to ever fail during my lifetime. Great item. This one is designed to fit on pvc, cpvc, or copper pipe (1/2") and it makes a male pipe tread (MNPT) fitting. This threaded fitting is not for hose connections, but threaded pipe fittings. It's easy to use, just push the fitting over the pipe, make sure you go all the way, and it's ready to use. In a pinch you can do it to a pipe that is spraying out water! The fitting will freely revolve around the pipe, but that doesn't affect the water tight coupling. If you want to take off the fitting, you can purchase a small inexpensive tool that looks like 3/4 of a circle that pushes in the locking mechanism and the fitting comes off the pipe, clean, and can both can be reused again. In fact, I have used these fittings and a union where I use the special tool to open the piping. Worse aspect is the price and it's bulky compared to regular fittings. The adapter is a good piece for a tradesperson or homeowner with no practical plumbing sense. The only complaint is that PVC does vary in size in most Schedules of pipe. Schedule 40 PVC is the optimized or Type I would recommend (Which was not stated anywhere) for this transition fitting. Instructions should be written better and would lead to better understanding of just what the purpose is and correct installation of said fitting. Understanding will lead to more sales and you know where that leads..... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The SharkBite PVC Connector 1/2" is such an improvement over soldering joints. The easy of installation makes the job easier to plan and modify if necessary. It provides a water tight seal, yet allows the waterline to rotate inside if necessary, The Sharkbite fits so well you need only issue was removal of the connector, it fits so well you must purchase a removal tool. The cost of removal tool is only a couple bucks. Overall very good product. I will use this type of connector on any future job. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I have been using them now for 10 years and never have had any issues. This connector is perfect for attaching a shutoff valve on my main line down in the basement. Basically you just cut the pipe, debur and clean the end, and push this fitting on it. Installation is that easy, only taking a few min. I will continue to use Sharkbite products as they make easy work out of something that use to be quite laborious. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

In your comment you state this can be used with "HDPE (SDR-9 ASTM D2737). At our store the 250 PSI supply line we carry is SDR-9 and CTS size and the city water is below 200 PSI so I assume SharkBite fittings with your protective wrap can be used on same.

Asked by: Dink B
Hello, Yes, any of our SharkBite fittings that have the tan/brown collar on each end can be used with any of the pipe/tubing listed below. They are suitable for underground applications as long as they are wrapped with a self-fusing silicone tape. Also, our fittings can handle pressures up to 200 PSI. PEX (ASTM F876, CSA B137.5) Copper (ASTM B 88) CPVC (ASTM D 2846, CSA B137.6) PE-RT (ASTM F 2769) HDPE (SDR-9 ASTM D2737) Best regards,

Is it possible to solvent weld the PVC side of the adapter? I realize it's not needed, would make it non-removeable, and it's not how the part is intended to be used, I'm wondering if the white inside of the adapter is PVC and snug enough to weld.

Asked by: Logan J
Hello, We do not recommend solvent welding any pipe into our fittings. This could damage internal parts and cause the fitting to fail. Thank you

Is there a minimum wall thickness that shark bite can be used with? Would like to use with the black, thin wall tubing used with home wells. Typically this tubing is used with barb fittings and hose clamps.

Asked by: TaddK
Hello, Tubing types for SharkBite push-to-connect fittings are not approved according to wall thickness. SharkBite fittings with the white collar are only suitable for use with shedule 40, 80 or 120 PVC. SharkBite fittings that have a tan collar are approved for the below types of tubing. If your tubing has one of the below ASTM and/or CSA standards printed on the wall it will be suitable for use with our fittings. PEX (ASTM F876, CSA B137.5) Copper (ASTM B 88) CPVC (ASTM D 2846, CSA B137.6) PE-RT (ASTM F 2769) HDPE (SDR-9 ASTM D2737) Regards
