Information

SharkBite PEX tubing is a cross-linked polyethylene pipe for a range of residential and commercial plumbing applications. This pipe is approved for all potable water systems and is also available in red and blue colors. SharkBite PEX is approved for crimp, clamp or push-to-connect plumbing systems. The pipe comes with a repeating SharkBite imprinted pattern which serves as a visual aid to determine if the tube has been inserted correctly into SharkBite Push-to-Connect fittings. This feature only works if the tubing is cut between the SharkBite imprint pattern.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A little patience and this stuff is great for the price The other reviewer said it is unworkable. I suspect that it is a matter of patience and common sense. I have not had a single leak with this stuff and any 3/4" pipe is tough in tight corners that is why there are fittings but to make long runs where you would need a lot of fittings for rigid pipe, this stuff works great. The only thing better is weirsbo(?) because it retains shape after freezing but this stuff freezes and still have not had a leak!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from STIFF, but workable...INSTALL tips... I purchased this to replace my 1/2" copper lines to install a water softener. Our home has a 3/4" service coming in, but back in the 50's, they thought that it was a good idea to run everything in half inch. Since I had to make a 35' run just to feed the water softener, I thought that I'd replace all the copper with pex and SharkBites. Project went smooth as silk. DO NOT cut off the outside plastic from the roll of tubing - simply cut the center of the plastic out on ONE side, and then the plastic bands. Find the end of the pipe in the CENTER of the coil, and feed the pipe from there. This way when you feed the new pipe, the coil can simply spin and un-wind as you pull, and the rest of your pipe stays clean. Pipe CAN be straightened, and has a remarkably low "memory" - meaning that when you bend the pipe in the opposite direction of the natural coil curve, it does not want to immediately snap back to that shape. It will try to return to that shape, but VERY slowly, which allows you to complete your install. If you have places where you need to make long runs, a small piece of blue masking tape can be placed over the end of the pipe to keep debris out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Less Than Perfect I mean me, not the product. Used pex pipe and associated sharkbite fittings for leak repair and to re-do a shower. Tubing is easily cut and since it is coiled, it is difficult to cut the ends square. However, there were no leaks. Sharkbite fittings are easily removed with the proper tool, allowing for use of the "trial-and-error" method of obtaining a good fit. For this reason the fittings seem to be worth the extra expense.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to use I was going to use some copper piping I had on hand for a small job but I noticed that my HD also had 3' length of this available so I grabbed one of those and it made the whole job much easier and cheaper since I did not have to use two 90° elbows... Such a simple system with Sharkbite fittings.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too Stiff to work with in crawl space I'm installing a whole house filter/conditioner (Aquios) and it was necessary to go in the crawlspace under the house in order to cut into the main. Basically, I'm separating the house water from the yard water to keep from "using up" the filter media too fast. Read reviews stating how stiff it is, but since I'm in the trades (carpenter - not a plumber) I thought I would have the strength to make it work/straighten it out. I wanted to do this due to the fact that using a single piece of long pipe is cheaper due to fewer fitting, plus a better flow rate since the fittings will constrict flow somewhat. But I was wrong about my ability. It is flat too stiff to straighten it out on your own while under the house. It was so precurved from being in the roll that I was unable to even get it straight enough to get it on the male adapter. It would pop off. I would of given it one star because of how stiff and unworkable it is, but my situation is perhaps a little extreme. I ended up buying straight 10' sections and multiple fittings and it worked fine. If you're doing above grade work where it's easier to work it/pre-straighten it better and are able to put several pipe clamps to hold it straight you might be fine if you have adequate abilities. For the home diyer though, I cant recommend it. You're better off getting the 10' sections and using multiple fittings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easy to use and work with I have been using PEX piping in my remodel and I am very happy with the quality of the product. I was worried it would not hold up like copper does but in fact I think this product is superior to copper. Much easier to work with and you do not have to solder.

Good morning, As long as the system is within our specifications. Meaning, to be used with potable water and does not exceed 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Any system outside of this, you should not use our products.

How does white PEX hold up in direct sunlight? We are a large walnut farm and have found your product to be perfect for young tree hoops. If it holds up in direct sunlight, we would be using thousands of feet of the product.

Asked by: ClaytonH
Good morning, PEX pipe can not be left in direct UV light for longer than 30 days. After which, there is a chance for the pipe to start breaking down.

Can this PEX tubing be used outside for a RO water system that WILL NOT receive "Direct Sunlight"? I've been using standard tubing that keeps drying out and cracking. Direct Sunlight never shines on any part of the system but does get over 100 degrees!

Asked by: RCGG
Good afternoon, Since you stated you experience other tubing drying out and cracking, we'd need to get a bit more information such as where is it installed (attic, underground, etc). Please reach out to our Customer Service team at 1-877-700-4242 between 8 am - 6 pm est Monday through Friday or by e-mail at techsupport@cashacme.com We'd love to learn more about your installation and see what options we have available to for you at this time.
