Information

SharkBite PEX tubing is a cross-linked polyethylene pipe for a range of residential and commercial plumbing applications. This pipe is approved for all potable water systems and is also available in red and blue colors. SharkBite PEX is approved for crimp, clamp or push-to-connect plumbing systems. The pipe comes with a repeating SharkBite imprinted pattern which serves as a visual aid to determine if the tube has been inserted correctly into SharkBite Push-to-Connect fittings. This feature only works if the tubing is cut between the SharkBite imprint pattern.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A little patience and this stuff is great for the price The other reviewer said it is unworkable. I suspect that it is a matter of patience and common sense. I have not had a single leak with this stuff and any 3/4" pipe is tough in tight corners that is why there are fittings but to make long runs where you would need a lot of fittings for rigid pipe, this stuff works great. The only thing better is weirsbo(?) because it retains shape after freezing but this stuff freezes and still have not had a leak!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from STIFF, but workable...INSTALL tips... I purchased this to replace my 1/2" copper lines to install a water softener. Our home has a 3/4" service coming in, but back in the 50's, they thought that it was a good idea to run everything in half inch. Since I had to make a 35' run just to feed the water softener, I thought that I'd replace all the copper with pex and SharkBites. Project went smooth as silk. DO NOT cut off the outside plastic from the roll of tubing - simply cut the center of the plastic out on ONE side, and then the plastic bands. Find the end of the pipe in the CENTER of the coil, and feed the pipe from there. This way when you feed the new pipe, the coil can simply spin and un-wind as you pull, and the rest of your pipe stays clean. Pipe CAN be straightened, and has a remarkably low "memory" - meaning that when you bend the pipe in the opposite direction of the natural coil curve, it does not want to immediately snap back to that shape. It will try to return to that shape, but VERY slowly, which allows you to complete your install. If you have places where you need to make long runs, a small piece of blue masking tape can be placed over the end of the pipe to keep debris out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to use I was going to use some copper piping I had on hand for a small job but I noticed that my HD also had 3' length of this available so I grabbed one of those and it made the whole job much easier and cheaper since I did not have to use two 90° elbows... Such a simple system with Sharkbite fittings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Less Than Perfect I mean me, not the product. Used pex pipe and associated sharkbite fittings for leak repair and to re-do a shower. Tubing is easily cut and since it is coiled, it is difficult to cut the ends square. However, there were no leaks. Sharkbite fittings are easily removed with the proper tool, allowing for use of the "trial-and-error" method of obtaining a good fit. For this reason the fittings seem to be worth the extra expense.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good product if you get the 500 ft roll, make sure u have enough help....really difficult to work with, it was like playing with a 500ft spring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easy to use and work with I have been using PEX piping in my remodel and I am very happy with the quality of the product. I was worried it would not hold up like copper does but in fact I think this product is superior to copper. Much easier to work with and you do not have to solder.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good The real value of this piping is it's lifetime of service. If it develops leaks in the next 20 years, then it's a poor investment, if no leaks then a great investment. This white piping replaced old grey PEX piping that leaked. This white piping has a narrower inside diameter than the grey PEX, this makes it more difficult when fitting to grey PEX fittings. This white PEX is thicker and stiffer than the grey PEX and seems to be of better quality.

Questions

What is the ID and bending radius on your 2” PEX.

Asked by: Rob W
Good morning, Bend radius is 8 times the OD of the tubing, independent of size. For 2 inch, the OD will be 2-1/8 inch. The bend radius will be approximately 17 inches.

Hello, I have about a 500' run of 1 1/4 PVC pipe from the meter to the house. I have a leak that I am unable to find. Would I be able to run your pipe INSIDE my PVC pipe from the meter to the house? Thank you.

Asked by: DougF
Hello, As long as your local code allows it there is no issue with running a smaller size PEX tubing inside PVC pipe. Thank you

I purchased 1-1/2" PEX rolls and need to install in 20 degree weather. It's VERY stiff & I can not warm it. Please give me ideas on how to uncoil/straighten the PEX so I can install it outside and bury in a trench. Thanks!!

Asked by: Jed P
Good morning, You can use sand bags to place it along the pipe as you lay it in the ground.

I have existing 3/4" aquapex tubing.  Is is the proper ID to crimp on to a 3/4 Sharkbite manifold?

Asked by: Jim H
Hello, In order for PEX tubing to work with our barb/crimp manifolds it must comply with standards ASTM F876 and ASTM F877. If your tubing complies with these standards it will be printed on the tubing wall. Thank you
