Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plumbing done easy I was working on fixing up an old house sweating pipe the old fashion way. My father-in-law built a new house and turned me on to pex. There are no elbows or sweating some type of union at each bend. This tool allows you to attach fixtures or any type of connection you need to make to the pipe. Cut the pipe slip it on to the fixture and crimp your ring and done. I have had 100% success with this tool. Very consistent results and with the supplied gauge to make sure the tool is still set properly ensures the rings are set correctly, but I have never had to adjust the tool out of the box, still right where it needs to be a year and a half later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great, once calibrated First few crimps didn't fit in the Go gauge so I checked the instructions. It said it was factory calibrated, but it was wrong. I measured the distance between the handle marks and it was only 8". I had to search for an Allen wrench small enough, but once I found one (not included for some reason, I was able to make the adjustment to 8.5". All crimps for the entire day 3/4" and 1/2" were spot on afterwards. In some positions it is tough to get the leverage to get the crimp, but that's just how it goes no matter what tool you have. Just be sure to check the calibration before you start just so you don't waste time later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from plumbed a whole basement using this tool As a PEX newbie - but with much experience plumbing - I knew that the quality of our PEX joints would depend in large part on this tool. My friend and I replaced century-old steel water pipes with PEX, and not a single joint leaked. However, some of the joints require three hands - two on this tool, and a friend to position the crimp ring properly. The friends also need to cooperate so the crimp ring holder doesn't get his fingers pinched by this tool. That's why I gave it a 4 of 5 for 'ease of installation'. The narrow nose of this tool also permits working in some tight spots, although you'll need room for the handles, which open pretty wide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For the part time plumber There are several types of these small pex crimpers out there but this one seems to be a well thought out tool, it has teeth in reverse on the ends so the Vice Grips can latch on to without slipping off, The body is made of steel and has a sleeve on both sides to keep the upper and lower jaws together, and it made in USA. The Home Depo ad says 3/8 ,1/2 ,1in but the 1 in is really 3/4 .When using this tool I tried to use a 4" channel lock pliers to close the jaws this didn't work you have to use Vice-Grips.The crimper will stay in position to let you retighten the Vice Grips,it will take 4 or 5 tries to completely close, so if you are doing plumbing just now and than, this is the right tool

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Small Pex Hand Crimp Tool This is a great little tool if you only have a few crimps to do or have one or two between joists or in a tight spot that your crimp tool or cinch tool can't get into. I had one and thought I would give this tool a try and it worked just fine. Like other reviews I used my 10" Vise Grips with this and did a test clamp out in the open and it worked like a charm. I did it in 3 steps and done. Yes you do have to re-set your vise grips and I wouldn't want to do a whole house with it but it works just fine. Very substantial and it served it's purpose. I only used it on the 1/2" size and I normally use the cinch rings but this is just fine if you don't want to spend the money on the big tool.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for PEX plumbing This would be a 5 star product if it didn't need so much muscle to make the crimp. I did a major plumbing project with this crimper and every crimp was perfect. It did need more strength than I expected but the outcome was great. The other drawback to this tool is that it is a little difficult to maneuver in small (tight) spaces. Even with these minor issues I would buy it again if I was starting over. The alternative using the Stainless Steel clamping crimps is very costly for materials and personally the seal does not look to be as positive as using the crimp ring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value I checked around for this type of tool from other manufacturers and discovered this one was the least expensive by a significant margin. It's wonderful because it comes with a half inch and three-quarter inch crimp. I highly recommend this tool. the only difficulty I ran into was installing crimp fittings in tight spaces, but that is not the tools fault. Just make sure you plan ahead when installing crimp fittings in tight spaces. another pleasant surprise with this tool is that it comes with the nogo/go checking tool

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved Me a Lot of Money Contrary to what's stated on this web page the go/no-go gauge *is* included. I'm not a plumber, but I have done a lot of remodeling and have had to do lots of plumbing work. This is the first time I've used pex and everything went well using this tool. Following the easy to read instructions I checked the calibration of the tool and went right to work. Roughed in a new shower valve in a new location where lots of framing members are in the way. This would have been a difficult job using iron, copper, or PVC. Plumbers wanted between $250 and $450. It took me less than an hour and cost me less than $100 including the $60 for this tool. It has already paid for itself. The valve is installed, the water is on, and there are no leaks. Job done.

Questions

I just bought a brand new crimper. Number 865894, the very first crimp made failed to go into the "go" gauge, should i have to adjust this tool right off the store floor?

Asked by: Clinton b
Hello, Our crimp tools are calibrated from the factory. The "GO" portion of the gauge should go over the crimped ring and the "NO GO" portion of the gauge should not go over the crimped ring. The crimping tool will leave a small lip on opposite ends of the crimp ring that needs to be inserted into the gauge in the proper direction. The instructions that came with your tool will have an illustration that explains this. If you are still experiencing issues please refer to the included instructions for directions on how to calibrate the tool. If you are in need of further assistance please contact our customer service department at 877-700-4242. Thank you
