The HG160 is a Temperature Actuated Mixing Valve combined with SharkBite push-fit connections that mixes hot water with cold in order to deliver safely tempered water at a controlled temperature. This valve is designed to assist in the prevention of scalding and thermal shock. It is adjustable anywhere from 95° – 120°F (35 – 48.9°C) and comes factory set to 120°F (49°C). The SharkBite connections make installation of this valve quick and easy.

Pretty easy to assemble-DOES need some cuttingFirst and foremost, we have hot showers again!! We have a valve that controls the upstairs water and it had gone bad. I did a bunch of searching and reading reviews, this one seemed easiest and best quality. It was pretty easy to install (had someone do it but watched the whole thing). Glad I did though, because you WILL need to cut old connections off and I thought that was the case. But after watching it I am very confident anyone can do this as long as the have pipe cutters (pvc). Very good product produces very hot water, haven't temped it but if my wife says its hot enough you shouldn't need anything hotter!

This product solved both issues. The water temperature was set to approximately 108 degrees F. We run all hot water in the shower. No more blasts of changing water temperature when a faucet is opened somewhere else in the house.
The SharkBite fittings work very well. Removing the inserts that are shipped in the fitting for PEX tubing wasn't as easy as the instructions implied. However, they do pull out with a pair of needle nose pliers.

A great product and easy to work with.Nothing beats a shark bite fitting for ease and convenience, they make plumbing projects a pleasure to do.
What is the difference between an HG 110 and an HG 160? I am looking for a mixing valve to reduce water temp from solar collecting panels into a on demand water heater.

The difference is the standards these meet. HG 110 is triple listed. This means it can be installed at Point of Use (at the sink/faucet), Point of Source (at the water heater/boiler) or for multi-outlets ( "Gang Showers" or multiple sinks as seen in public restrooms).
The HG 160 is only designed and certified for Point of Use or multi-outlets.
