Rated 4 out of 5 by from Useful, but know it's limitations I was never a fan of "mechanical" seals behind walls until I helped my son-in-law rebuilding their bathroom. Still leary of hidden applications, but I made the jump and have used these when joining difference materials (as in old copper to CPVC). As a depth gage, very easy and useful. For deburring the OD - useful, although I think careful use of a small knife works fine also. I suspect those who report "chattering" or the like may have been using too much pressure. For deburring the ID - it was not intended for this purpose, which I find disappointing, given that the "seal" surface is the ID. I ensure a clean, burr-free ID by using a little emory cloth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do Not Leave Home Depot Without it! Purchased my Shark Bites for my kitchen plumbing and went home. I had a couple of questions before I installed so I went back to Home Depot and the plumbing dept. guy ask if I had the Shark Bite Safe Seal Tool. For the money it is a great investment. After I cut my Shark Bite 1/2" plumbing pipe, I lightly twisted the pieces through the Safe Seal Tool and sure enough, it nicely and easily cleaned up the ends of each piece of pipe, plus, you can mark the 1" mark exactly with the tool. Hooked the valves and connectors up with my piece of pipe then slid them right over the old piping, which in my case was polybutylene (old mobile home grey plumbing). If you have the same, make sure to use Shark Bites for polybutylene. Works well! Would not hesitate to use Shark Bites for any future plumbing project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shark Bite Tool This tool is great and is very affordable. Been working with shark bite fittings for a while and it helps you to not second guess yourself when you push the shark bite fitting on, weather it is all the way on or not. This tool once you deburr the tubing & put a mark on the tubing. Using this tool as your guide with it still on the tubing, put a mark where the top of the tool ends on the tubing. You then take the shark bite fitting pop it on, you will then see that the fitting will stop where that mark is. Now you have a true fit no second guessing. Doug

Rated 5 out of 5 by from makes life simple This makes your life easier when installing pipes. Each socket has at its base a sharp blade which deburrs the end of the pipe with a few twists. Works with copper and PEX, (probably also PVC but I have not tried that yet)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok at Best As a deburring tool, it sucks. It leaves a rough edge that can damage the plastic collar on the fitting. Do yourself a favor and if you don't have a quality deburring tool, a light touch with a file if necessary, and some 80 grit paper will give you a smooth edge. As a depth gauge, it's fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it's supposed to do. It works as described. I used it during my water heater install to take the rough edges off the pex and copper that I was working with.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Great I have the old poly tubing in my house and this tool works great for cleaning up the edges before installing a Shark Bite T. Highly recommend for any type of tubing. The tool fits several different sizes of tubing or pipe.
