Word of warning: DO NOT buy I love shark bite fittings, I have used them before and will continue to use them. The issue with the lines is not the shark bite side, its the rubber washer on the threaded side. When the FIP fitting is tightened there is no collar on the ID of the flex pipe to keep the washer from over compressing. I went through 2 sets of these lines, each time same thing. Under compression the rubber washer tears and begins to leak. One of these fittings held for 8 days before doing so. I'm not saying all flex lines with rubber washers don't work, just know that these rubber washers will fail over time and temperature cycles

Prefacing this with my disdain for sweating pipes--not because I disagree with the practice but because I'm not terribly efficient and I waste a lot of solder--I had high hopes for this product. I am a big fan of SharkBite products and use them frequently on a number of projects. When it came time to replace my hot water heater and I was gathering the materials, I came across this set and instantly purchased it. True to expectation, they were a breeze to install. Just cut the old pipe and push these on. After a successful installation, I turned on the new unit and set it to 120 degrees. A few hours later I heard beeping coming from the basement and upon inspection I found water leaking heavily from the seal on the hot water outlet terminal.   Assuming I received a defective unit, I returned the kit and replaced it, only to discover that the second one leaked at the same location as well.  Rather than replace it, I adjusted the water temperature to 115 degrees and surprisingly the leak stopped.  It hasn't leaked since, and it's been six months.  I still use the unit, but would advise caution to anyone who likes to keep their hot water heaters on higher temperatures.

I had considered putting together "pieces" (pex, connectors and shut off valve) including using SharkBite connectors but when I saw this kit available it was an immediately solution to what needed to be done. It was easy to install and made the job turn out extremely professional. I am very pleased.

I have to admit I was skeptical and originally planned to sweat fit the lines to the new water heater but the way it was installed would have necessitated re-routing existing piping to be able to sweat the new valve and pipe adapter in as the new heater was a couple inches taller than the outgoing unit. The snake bite with integral valve was several inches shorter overall and allowed me to do in 5 minutes what would have taken hours otherwise. I will definitely consider this for future plumbing projects.

I was worried about having to solder a new section of copper pipe for my replacement water heater. I have used other SharkBite connectors before, so I was confident when I saw it available in these premade kits. I got home, cut the pipes and pushed these on and I was all set in about 10 minutes. No leaking whatsoever.

I am getting a black substance in my tubs when turning on the hot water. I have had a plumber out and not sure what is causing it. Could it be your lines? I used your product connection both of my hot water heaters.

Asked by: Cal B
Good morning, We have heard about customers using our braided flex hoses experiencing this issue back in 2011. In 2014, we upgraded the rubber liner to last longer than previously. Rubber will eventually break down over time and quicker in hard water areas. We have not had reports that our 2014 rubber hoses have been breaking down. In 2014, we also came out with the Corrugated Hose (no rubber liner) for customers who think their water may break down the rubber faster than expected. Check your flex hoses and you may need to replace them with the corrugated if your hoses are less than 5 years old.

does the corrugated hose rubber lined just like the braided hose? will the lining flake off like I have heard so many people have issue with?

Asked by: w anderson
Hello, Our corrugated connectors do not contain a rubber liner in the hose and hold up better in areas with water that is harsh on rubber components. Thank you
