Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I've been using this check valve in my 3/4" copper-pipe household water system for over 5 years straight without a leak or any other problem. Follow installation instructions, be sure to de-burr any edges, push onto the pipe, and be worry free.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing concept that works This backflow valve was very easy to install and it works very well for the problem I was having with backflow into the system. I have used other Shark bite products since and they all work amazingly well. No fuss, just clean, cut install one end then cut and install the other. Minimal down time for the water system and despite being at ease when soldering it was much nicer. Honestly did not trust the first one I put it and placed a bucket under it. However. I am very happy with the outcome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SharkBite and PEX rock. The valve works as advertised. Also, it's a no-lead version, though I don't know where the "leaded" version might have lead. SharkBite fittings cut down 2 hours of work to 30 minutes, including supports. Make sure you cut the PEX squarely for best perfomance with SharkBite fittings. A PEX cutter is a worthwhile investment if you'll be doing a lot of PEX work. Get a disconnect tool, too. If for some reason you ever want to modify the layout, you'll need it to reuse the fittings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install, great safety feature The Sharkbite 3/4 inch Check Valve is an easy to install backflow prevention device. I installed one on the cold water inlet to my water heater. Sharkbite makes installing a breeze I simply cut my copper pipe, removed integrated PEX tube liners and pushed onto pipe and done! Would recommend this to any homeowner, quick and easy solution to prevent back siphonage into potable water supply. Sharkbite products make plumbing easy for an average DIYer or novice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from completed my hot water recirculation loop I installed a hot water recirculation loop in my house that only uses the inline pump to prime the system with hot water several times a day and then shut off. The pump does not have a check valve; so I added this part to solve the problem of cold water running backward through the loop when the pump is not running and the hot water is running. Problem easily solved.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to install Great product easy to install especially for me as I am getting a little older and my soldering skills are not what they used to be. Be sure your pipe is cut square and sanded clean with no burrs on the inside of pipe and you will have no leaks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Easy What a wonderful product. I'm sure happy for great minds and the easy technology they come up with. I just cut the PEX water line and slipped the check valve in place.

how much restriction will a sharkbite 1" chk valve make on a grundfos 17 gpm pump thanks

Asked by: Garry
Good morning, If you experience any restriction at all, it will be approximately 3-5 PSI variance (on the HIGH side). Maybe .25 GPM loss.

Hi folks,, just wondering what the crack pressure of a 1/2 inch sharkbite check valve is?? Also how much will it reduce flow by? Thank you

Asked by: Klg53
All SharkBite fittings are certified up to 200 psi. Flow reduction will be very minimal, so much that you most likely will not notice a difference, possibly a few psi, if that.

I have leaky swing check valve on the 1" copper supply line coming from my high efficiency gas boiler. Can a 1" shark bite check valve be used as a replacement?

Asked by: Raindog2
Good morning, As long as your system does not exceed 200 PSI or 200 Degrees Fahrenheit, you should have not issues using our check valve is a potable water application.

How much flow will be restricted by the 3/4 inch version. I have 15 GPM at 42psi. What would be the flow rate after inserting the back flow preventer?

Asked by: DouglasMcNeill
Good morning, The check valve requires 2 PSI to open it. You shouldn't see a dramatic flow rate drop. Maybe a few PSI and fraction of GPM loss.

i'm not familiar with names of different pipes. will sharkbite work on galvanized pipe to copper pipe?

Asked by: Jerico
Good afternoon, No. SharkBite is only certified with Copper, CPVC or PEX pipe. We do not recommend using it on galvanized pipe.

Does sharkbite make an expandable fitting for a pipe connection where there is no way to pull or move the pipe to connect together

Asked by: Jerico
Good afternoon, No. All our fittings are push to connect. We do offer slip couplings but these are designed to repair a gap (up to 2 inches) in a pipe and not to extend the length of the pipe.
