Questions

How much flow will be restricted by the 3/4 inch version. I have 15 GPM at 42psi. What would be the flow rate after inserting the back flow preventer?

Asked by: DouglasMcNeill
Good morning, The check valve requires 2 PSI to open it. You shouldn't see a dramatic flow rate drop. Maybe a few PSI and fraction of GPM loss.

i'm not familiar with names of different pipes. will sharkbite work on galvanized pipe to copper pipe?

Asked by: Jerico
Good afternoon, No. SharkBite is only certified with Copper, CPVC or PEX pipe. We do not recommend using it on galvanized pipe.

Does sharkbite make an expandable fitting for a pipe connection where there is no way to pull or move the pipe to connect together

Asked by: Jerico
Good afternoon, No. All our fittings are push to connect. We do offer slip couplings but these are designed to repair a gap (up to 2 inches) in a pipe and not to extend the length of the pipe.

Can I put one of these on a plastic hose from a fountain pump?

Asked by: clee
Good afternoon, Our SharkBite fittings only work on Copper, PEX, CPVC or PE-RT pipe. If your hose is not one of these, we do not recommend using our fittings.

Can this valve be used to drain a water line for the winter. For example when I shut the water off to my cabin and the pressure drops it will drain the water in the line and when I turn the main water on the pressure will close the valve

Asked by: Nannon
Good morning, This product is designed to prevent back flow. This would not be something that will "auto drain" your line. You would want to use a ball valve to prevent water from the main line going into your house.

Can I use this check valve to replace a Taco 218 flo-check valve on my hot water heating system? The Taco valve prevent the flow of hot water until the calculator pump is activated

Asked by: Jason90
Greetings Jason90, Our check valves are designed for a one direction flowing system. If your project requires the water flow in the opposite direction in particular cases, our fitting will not work with your system.
