Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to install Great product easy to install especially for me as I am getting a little older and my soldering skills are not what they used to be. Be sure your pipe is cut square and sanded clean with no burrs on the inside of pipe and you will have no leaks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing concept that works This backflow valve was very easy to install and it works very well for the problem I was having with backflow into the system. I have used other Shark bite products since and they all work amazingly well. No fuss, just clean, cut install one end then cut and install the other. Minimal down time for the water system and despite being at ease when soldering it was much nicer. Honestly did not trust the first one I put it and placed a bucket under it. However. I am very happy with the outcome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works both as a check valve and a union I got this SharkBite check valve to replace a standard check valve. I want to be able to disconnect the inlet line from my storage tank at the house when I need to work on the system. The current check valve has threaded fittings that attach to PEX tubing. I was going to insert a Galvanized union but decided that a old style union required two pipe wrenches to open and the SharkBite could be disconnected without tools. The wonderful thing about this valve is that I was able to just cut the PEX tubing on both sides of the existing valve and insert the ends into the valve. Job done. When you are working in and 18" high crawl space under the house making something easier is worth a lot. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install and no leaks Worked great and was easier to install than I imagined. Don't forget to buy the little sleeve that allows you to remove it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I've been using this check valve in my 3/4" copper-pipe household water system for over 5 years straight without a leak or any other problem. Follow installation instructions, be sure to de-burr any edges, push onto the pipe, and be worry free.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SharkBite and PEX rock. The valve works as advertised. Also, it's a no-lead version, though I don't know where the "leaded" version might have lead. SharkBite fittings cut down 2 hours of work to 30 minutes, including supports. Make sure you cut the PEX squarely for best perfomance with SharkBite fittings. A PEX cutter is a worthwhile investment if you'll be doing a lot of PEX work. Get a disconnect tool, too. If for some reason you ever want to modify the layout, you'll need it to reuse the fittings.

Hi folks,, just wondering what the crack pressure of a 1/2 inch sharkbite check valve is?? Also how much will it reduce flow by? Thank you

Asked by: Klg53
All SharkBite fittings are certified up to 200 psi. Flow reduction will be very minimal, so much that you most likely will not notice a difference, possibly a few psi, if that.

How much flow will be restricted by the 3/4 inch version. I have 15 GPM at 42psi. What would be the flow rate after inserting the back flow preventer?

Asked by: DouglasMcNeill
Good morning, The check valve requires 2 PSI to open it. You shouldn't see a dramatic flow rate drop. Maybe a few PSI and fraction of GPM loss.

Good afternoon, No. SharkBite is only certified with Copper, CPVC or PEX pipe. We do not recommend using it on galvanized pipe.
