Information

SharkBite PEX tubing is a cross-linked polyethylene pipe for a range of residential and commercial plumbing applications. This pipe is approved for all potable water systems and is also available in red and white colors. SharkBite PEX is approved for crimp, clamp or push-to-connect plumbing systems. The pipe comes with a repeating SharkBite imprinted pattern which serves as a visual aid to determine if the tube has been inserted correctly into SharkBite Push-to-Connect fittings. This feature only works if the tubing is cut between the SharkBite imprint pattern.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value, Easy Install I used SharkBite PEX to replace copper line running to my Water Heater. The red and blue colors make it easy to distinguish Hot and Cold lines after install is complete. Using a SharkBite elbow I easily transitioned from Copper to PEX, the PEX is more flexible than copper and easy to work with, it is also a great value at much lower price point. PEX is easy to cut as well and can be done with a PEX Cutter sold at Home Depot. Great product very easy to work with and use for an average DIYer.

This is a great length of PEX for small jobs and I recently used it to replace a plumbing assembly in my laundry room. 5 ft was all I needed. I like PEX because it can bend easily and saves time over using multiple copper fittings. I noticed the factory cuts are not perfectly flat but I also realized that shark bite fittings dont require an exceptionally flat end to the tubing, it can be a little slanted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every handyman should have this in his garage All the plumbing I've ever done has been with copper piping and sweated or compression fittings. After moving to upstate New York the vast majority of the plumbing I've encountered is PEX tubing. I love it. It's so much more forgiving and easier to work with than ridged pipe. This five foot piece is great to have on hand for quick repairs.

Questions

I am installing whole house filter(auasana) and High performance UV system. Is this blue 3/4 size pipes(part no: U870B10) are UV resistant or not? Is it safe to use?

Asked by: dipak
Good morning, Our PEX is UV resistant meaning they can last in the sun up to 30 days. Any exposure after that will start to cause the PEX to break down.

what would you recommend to use for an air compresser line for inside a shop

Asked by: ghbs3
SharkBite PEX is designed for use on Potable Water or Hydronic Heating applications, it is not intended for use on Air. You can use PEX to run air, however it will not be covered under our Warranty. A system that is on the market intended for what you are looking to do is called RapidAir, they make all of the pipe and fittings you would need to run air through your shop.

We have an area of pex tubing that goes to our bathroom upstairs that was installed in a manner where does not stay close to the other pipes and therefore ti takes up more space. Can we add to the existing tubing and install a right angle to remedy this?

Asked by: Cooter
Greetings Cooter, You would need to work with a local plumber to get this type of advice. We are unable to provide suggestions for plumbing solutions at this time.

I plan on installing a whole house water filter in my basement using PEX. While the basement is "inside", there are three small basement-style windows to the entire basement that will let a little sunlight into the area. Will this be too much UV?

Asked by: TedS
Greetings TedS, You should not have any issues. Our PEX tubing can't be exposed for a prolonged amount of time to direct UV light. If you feel the sunlight will be direct on the PEX, you can cover the section that will come in contact with the sunlight with a trash bag.

I am adding on a extra bathroom to my existing house and would like to know if the PEX pipe we hold up in my crawl space or if I need to use copper pipe instead.

Asked by: Luis
Greetings Luis, Our PEX tubing is certified to be buried or behind walls, so we do not see any issue with them in your crawl space. The only issue with using PEX outside, or exposed to the enviroment, is coming in contact with UV light. If your crawl space is completely covered, our PEX tubing will work for your project. If you have any additional questions or any follow up questions, please feel free to reach out to our customer service department by calling 1-877-700-4242 between 8:00am est to 6:00pm est or e-mailing us at techsupport@cashacme.com.
