Information

SharkBite Ball Valves are the easiest way to install or replace a shut-off valve into your potable water or hydronic water heating system. The push-fit connections allow you to join to Copper, PEX, CPVC or PE-RT pipe in any combination without a need for soldering, clamps, glue or unions. These valves come with a drain to allow you to empty the water line and then shut off the supply with no hassle. The valve is easily rotated after installation making it easier to reach the shutoff, or to work in tight spaces.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVE SHARK BITE If you can cut pipe you can install SharkBite. Measure twice, cut once. It is simple, it is clean, it is neat -- it works. I have installed various SharkBIte components in two house in the last year -- no leaks. I'm sold. I am now starting to use their PEX piping and am very happy with that as well. I am an amateur, not a professional and was reluctant to learn to solder, this saved me and possibly both houses. READ ALL INFORMATION YOU CAN FIND AND WATCH EVERY VIDEO YOU CAN FIND. Practice cutting and connecting a few times before trying it for real.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes life much easier... Has been collecting dripping water from the drain using the old valve, thinking the water might have come from the sprinkler system. Turned out the old valve couldn't seal tight any more after some valve experimenting (no water dripping after shutting down the main valve). This SharkBite valve made the replacement work so easy. Measure, cut, mark, and push in. It is actually a little longer than the original valve, which has also saved me from buying a slip coupling (needed if your pipe doesn't move much to make the connection). A little more expensive than the traditional sweat valve, but works great and saves lots of time. Good price from HomeDepot. No water dripping from the drain any more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great product that is easy to install. I installed two of these valves for future isolation of water lines in the event of low temperatures that could cause freezing and busted pipes. These valves have an added feature for draining after the vavle is close.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As advertised & easy to install I used the Shark-bite shut off valve w/ waste to replace the Shark Bite slip T coupler & pressure gauge configuration, I used to verify the pressure while adjusting a water pressure regulator. Because it's basically the same length & gives me the ability to shut off water & drain line with 1 product.

I installed this valve to replace the previous one that was installed backwards in that I wasn't able to drain the line at the end of the season. Shark Bite valves make it so easy to upgrade my plumbing.

Questions

I have an leaky valve w/vent installed in copper. I want to replace it with Ball Valve 1/2" w/drain, # 22304-0000LF. What is the "Cut Dimension" between the two ends of the copper pipe? Not Dimension "A" but Dimension "A" less 2X pipe insertions?

Asked by: Gerry
Good morning, You simply do as you stated in your last sentence. Take the measurement of A (3.43 inches) and subtract the insertion depth twice (for 1/2" the insertion depth is roughly 7/8") so it would go as follows: 3.43 - 0.875 - 0.875 = 1.68 inches left (approximately).

I am using this valve to do a 1 time air bleed, to get the air out of a heating loop. I need valve installed in opposite direction. I want to shut off water flow at the end of the loop, but unscrew bleeder cap to let the air out...will this work?

Asked by: John handyman
Hi John, SharkBite ball valves may be installed in either direction without problems. Thank you

SharkBite fittings are only certified for potable water applications. We would not recommend using them for air.

Would the 3/4 ball valve with drain work to connect a 1/4 line to my humidifier, would have to install the ball valve in backwards. Want to be able to shut off water to the house but leave water on to the humidifier.

Asked by: Snoopy
We do not make ball valves to fit 1/4" line. The lowest we go is 1/2". You would have to convert up to 3/4" from 1/4" to use one of our ball valves.

When will you make a 1/2 in. slip ball valve with a drain? Also, what is the minimum gap between the pipes to install the slip valve. I know the max is two inches but what is the min if the pipes can't be moved?

Asked by: Rock
Good morning, You need at least 1 inch gap between the two sides. The only issue with minimal gaps is you are going to have a hard time slipping the ball valve back over the other pipe. There is not reason you can't have extra pip internally. We are always working on new products. I'm sure the drain will be incorporated in the future.

How large a gap do I need for a 1/2 inch ball valve with drain and how long a stub to go into each end?

Asked by: Paul Butch
On a half inch ball valve, the fitting itself is 3.06". You will need to insert the pipe 7/8" on each side for a proper seal. So from the total length of the fitting, you will need to subtract out 1 3/4" and that will be the gap left.
