A tutorial on how Copper or CPVC repairs are made simple using SharkBite’s™ Slip Repair Couplings.
Welcome to SharkBite Training Videos. In this video, I will show you how to correctly use a SharkBite Slip Repair Coupling.
Slip Repair Couplings come in 1/2′, 3/4’ & 1’ sizes are great for when you need to repair Copper or CPVC and can be installed wet or dry.
First, remove damaged pipe to a maximum of 2’ making sure the remaining pipe ends are not damaged. They must be perfectly round, free of debris and cut square using a pipe cutter. De-burr each pipe end and mark correct depth engagement using the SharkBite De-burring and Depth Gauge Tool.
SharkBite Slip Repair Couplings have 2 features clearly marked on the barrel of the fitting: “SLIP END”™ and a ridge around the other end highlighting the location of the internal pipe stop.
Simply slide the end of the coupling marked “SLIP END”™ over the copper as far as it will go. Using a disconnect clip on the “SLIP END”™ of the fitting, slide the coupling back over the adjoining piece of copper until it clicks and reaches the correct depth gauge mark. Do not withdraw the “SLIP END”™ any further than the depth gauge mark.
Included in the SharkBite range are Slip Tees and Female Centre Slip Tees for adding new lines and connections to other products.
Recently added, Service Slip Tee Adaptors for installation of any new appliance like a dishwasher or humidifier with the SharkBite range of stop valves.
